Guide New Player Beginners – Summoners War

Guide by dimmi99

First note, make the most of Ameria’s blessing you’re given at the start, with this you can easily 6* the units needed for gb12 and more, also it gives cheaper rune power-ups which are useful for your firstgbB12 comp, your first part of the game is getting some friends, rushing the scenario and farming exp (and runes) to get your gb10 team up and running.

Scenario and starting out

After getting past the “tutorial” and into the game your first major milestone is to simply complete the scenario, you don’t really need to worry about runes or monsters as such (although you should keep an eye on the giants b12 (gb12) team you want to use which will be spoken about later), you just want to make your way through it and collect the rewards on your way. After completing Mt. Siz you will get given a water magic knight (aka Lapis), she is going to be your best monster for early game and very useful even into mid game, just continue using her in pretty much all your teams.

Once you get past Faimon hell you will unlock a challenge giving you a set of vampire/revenge runes, upgrade these to +9 and put them on Lapis, through the challenges as well there’s a set called “daily dungeon tips”, doing these will easily get you the materials you need to awaken Lapis (gives her better stats), these also give 2 very useful monsters in Colleen and Konamiya

With Lapis on Vampire/Revenge rune set, you’ll get through a lot of the scenario pretty easily. If you get stuck on anything just use friend reps to get you past it, just go into a busy channel (100-120 are usually busy) and add every lv50 player you see, some will be nice enough to add you and their reps are (usually) strong enough to breeze through any scenario stage.

Whilst going through the scenario you should also be doing the daily challenges and any event that is currently ongoing for the rewards, you will get a ton of materials for evolving and leveling monsters, for the most part don’t bother with anybody other than Lapis, you’ll want her as your first 6* as she will become your farmer to help level other units quicker. You will get a lot of Rainbowmons, if they’re at max level they’re intended to be evolved to the next star and used to evolve something else.

Other than Lapis there are a few units you should keep an eye on for progression, I’ve noted their early game use and not necessarily their later game use;

This list doesn’t include everything but covers a lot of the monsters that are either key to early game or very useful. Not all of them are mandatory and can definitely be skipped (Baretta for example) but for the most part, they’re going to be useful in one way or another, you should also keep family members for the 2/3* monsters in order to skill them up, you want to save all your Devilmons for Sigmarus.

Whilst making your way through the scenario you should keep half an eye on evolving/skilling the mons in the list, especially the fusion monsters for Sigmarus, they’re all worth bringing up to 5* stars but for the time being, Lapis should be your only 6*. Once you complete the scenario you will be given a second set of vamp/rev runes, these are much stronger than any run you will already have and are perfect for Lapis, with these runes and being 6* she can easily pass Faimon hell mode on her own, this is one of the best places to gain exp, starting out you get Ameria’s blessing for 14 days which gives you double exp and free rune removal, make the most of this time to build your gb12 team.

How to clear GB10

Your second big milestone is getting your gb10 team nailed down and farming, the reason for this is that the quality of runes from gb10 is much higher than any scenario runes and has much better drop rates than any other gb floor

There are a couple of major options for gb10, the first being the older method of just fusing Veromos and using the cookie-cutter team, this is a bit outdated now as it’s a fair bit slower than newer comps but gains the benefit of the game almost giving you Veromos via the fusion challenges and is pretty brainless to rune and run, absolutely nothing wrong with going for this team, if you’re going this route definitely run Loren over Darion to start with at the least

A better idea for gb10 now is to completely skip Veromos, he requires quite a lot of resources and falls out of use pretty quickly, fusing Sigmarus first gets you into gb10 quicker and she is continuously useful much later on in the game

Sigmarus, Belladeon, Loren, Shannon, Bernard/Fran

This is likely to be your first comp, there are some alternatives, for example, you can run Lulu over Belladeon or a different DD over Sigmarus but for the most part, this comp requires the lowest quality runes and gets you into gb10 the fastest, you can use Fran over Bernard for better results but the reason I’ve included Bernard is because ran is only obtainable via events which means you could be waiting a few weeks to get her if you’re unlucky, Bernard is readily available and you should be farming gb10 within 2/3 weeks if not faster

You will want to make Sigmarus your second 6*, she really needs the extra stats to survive and as she’s your primary damage dealer you want to be able to get as much damage as possible, this isn’t mandatory but makes the requirements much easier to hit.

Sigmarus

  • HP 13-15k
  • Spd 130
  • Accuracy –
  • Runes: Blade x3

Belladeon

  • HP 18-20k
  • Spd 160
  • Accuracy 45
  • Runes: Swift/Focus

Loren

  • HP 18-20k
  • Spd 160
  • Accuracy 45
  • Runes: Focus/Energy/Energy

Shannon

  • HP 15k
  • Spd 140
  • Accuracy 45
  • Runes: Focus/Focus/Energy

Bernard

  • HP 15k
  • Spd 170
  • Accuracy 45
  • Runes: Swift/Focus

Fran

  • HP 18-20k
  • Spd 160
  • Accuracy 45
  • Runes: Swift/Focus

Note1: you can run Shannon on despair runes, which helps with the trash waves but you lose the advantage of the focus or energy sets making the rune requirements higher

Note2: Sig also needs some damage stats, explained later.

With your current rune options, it’s very unlikely you’ll be able to hit these stats right off the bat, you’ll need to do some farming (welcome to summoners war). There are 2 ways to get the runes you need, you can either farm gb7 or farm the scenarios for the needed runes, gb7 requires a bit more luck to get the runes you’re after but .has the benefits of higher rarity runes, scenarios are easier to get the exact rune you want but runes are of lower quality. I always prefer doing the scenario as the stats really aren’t that hard to get, below I show how you can get the necessary stats via the scenario runes

Sigmarus ★★★★★

So the beauty of Sig is that almost all of the damage is based on enemy’s max hp, this means for the earlier build we can all but ignore the attack stats and just focus on cRate, cDmg and the stats needed to survive.

Going triple blade sets and basic 5* runes at +12 (its worth +15ing the slot 4 for more damage) we are only missing a little spd and some cRate, the spd is easily fixed by +15ing the slot 2 but what would be better is getting lucky enough to get the missing speed via the sub stats which really doesn’t require much luck at all.

Getting to 100 cRate would be lovely but not easily doable with early game runes so 85 is a great target to hit, with triple blade we’re only missing out on 19% cRate, this just means you need about 3cRate extra on each rune which is so easy to get, this also gives room for you to sneak more cDmg in

Belladeon ★★★

It’s worth 6*ing Bella as she’s useful in other content which have higher reqs but I wanted to make this guide the easiest way to get into gb10 and that’s having as few 6*s as possible, so with Bella at 5* we want to have +15 runes in slots 4/6, it’s cheaper to upgrade runes with Amerias blessing active so it’s not the end of the world even it if it’s expensive.

If you 6* her you can just leave them at +12, with a swift and focus set the only stat we’re missing is hp, 25% for the minimum reqs, you’ve still got room on 4 of the runes to roll into hp% in the sub stats so with a little luck you only need 6% hp in each rune.

Not including any flat hp stats you’re lucky to get, alternatively you could run an energy set over the focus set and get the missing 20% accuracy via the substats as you can have 6 runes rolling acc, both work and aren’t overly difficult to reach. Alternatively just 6* her and it’s much easier.

Loren ★★★

Loren is probably your hardest unit to rune, maybe Fran if you’re running her, for this reason either 6* her or +15 her slots 2/4/6, requires a bit of mana but makes hitting the requirements much easier.

With 2 energy sets and a focus set we’re missing 19 spd and a little hp, this just means you need each white rune to roll into a spd and hp% sub and she’s done, if you do decide to 6* her then you won’t need to 6* the slots 4/6. You could drop the focus set and get another energy set in there and make the acc up in the subs but this requires more luck

Shannon ★★

With 5* white scenario runes you’re only missing a small amount of hp and acc, this is easily obtainable by either bringing one of the hp% runes up to +15 (not recommended, it’s expensive) or just by getting them in the substats which only needs a couple of runes to do so, really easy to hit the stats

Bernard ★★★

Alongside Shannon, he’s the easiest to rune, with a swift and focus set you’re literally just missing accuracy, get each rune to roll once into acc and that’s it his reqs are done

Hitting these stats are doable with just scenario runes as shown above, via the daily rune gift and general farming you’re likely to have a couple of better runes lying around to make hitting the reqs even easier or being able to get more cDmg on Sig, with this you’re now farming gb10 and have access to a much higher set of rune quality, you’ll very quickly replace those scenario runes you’ve been using and make your units even tankier or get more cDmg on Sig for better times

You’ll be farming gb10 for a long, long time now, getting better runes and building more monsters, your next goal is to speed up gb10 and start climbing in toa, don’t make the mistake of trying to leave gb10 too quickly as it’ll hold you back in the long run, once toaN100 is complete and your gb10 times are close to 60s you can start looking at getting into db10 but there is really no rush

A solid farmable toa team would be Baretta (L) Lupinus Lapis Sig Mav, this team will do almost every floor and requires pretty low rune quality, Baretta isn’t amazing and can be replaced by a host of options but i’ve included him as he’s farmable, same with Lupinus (although she’s actually really good, just not overly useful outside of toa), there are plenty of toa guides out there so I don’t want to go into that in too much detail.

Other important things to note

  • A common mistake is building too many units and spreading your runes/exp out, try to focus on just your core monsters, which to start with is gb10 and Lapis, building other stuff is just holding you back

  • Keep every nat 4/5 and LD mon you summon, even if the mon isn’t immediately useful to you it could get buffed in the future or it might be useful to skill up another family member with

  • Devilmon are gold dust, don’t make the mistake of feeding these away, they should be used almost exclusively on nat 5 monsters, the first of which being sig, there are a very few select nat 4s that deserve them but the list is very short

  • Use the DAT, for everything and anything, if you’re not sure then just ask, it’s easier to get advice first than making a mistake later on

  • Join a guild as soon as possible, even if you’re not in the attacking teams you still get guild points which you will need to buy either fusion mats (water cat) or the weekly rainbowmon

  • Don’t take pvp seriously, in arena just put a really weak defence to keep your rank low and get easy attacks, at least do enough for the weekly devilmon but you should be doing more in order to buy the glory towers (start with the energy buildings and then the speed one)
